Eight Key Points for the Maintenance of Plastic Runways
Plastic runways are very common sports venues with a high frequency of use. To ensure the normal use of plastic runways and extend their service life, the maintenance of plastic runways is of great importance. So, how do we maintain plastic runways?
Plastic runways undergo multiple strict construction processes such as base layer paving and surface layer spraying. They must be maintained for 7 to 10 days after construction before they can be used to ensure the solidification of the plastic runway mortar and avoid phenomena such as shelling, blistering, separation, and loss of particles!
The runway can be used all day under the condition that it has drainage facilities. As a professional sports venue, the plastic runway is only suitable for athlete training, competitions, student sports, and fitness exercises. It is not suitable for other purposes!
Avoid pollution by harmful substances such as corrosive liquids. Therefore, the runway should be kept clean regularly. Try to avoid spilling carbonated beverages on the runway!
Severe mechanical impact and friction are strictly prohibited. Heavy machinery such as vehicles and cranes are strictly prohibited from driving on the runway. Nor can heavy objects and sharp items be piled on it. (Running spikes should be properly stored!) Heavy machinery and sharp items can easily deform the runway and damage its structure, shortening the lifespan of the runway.
The spikes of athletes' running shoes should not exceed 7 millimeters, and those of jumping shoes generally should not exceed 11 millimeters. If sports shoes have relatively long spikes, they are not allowed to be used on the plastic runway. Similarly, overly long spikes can cause serious damage to the runway.
Avoid fireworks, isolate heat sources, and eliminate cigarette butts and kindling. Excessive heat can cause the plastic runway to bulge and deform. In case of encountering fireworks, etc., it will cause direct damage to the plastic runway.
After being put into use, it can be regularly rinsed with clean water. After cleaning, sweep away the water marks on the runway surface as soon as possible, and it is appropriate to use a mop to dry it. Avoid water accumulation. If it gets stained with oil, it can be scrubbed clean with 10% ammonia water or detergent, laundry powder.
The edges of the plastic runway should be protected and should not be lifted casually. If damage to the curb or blistering is found, the construction company should be notified in time to carry repair work.
